Arkansas Cancer Summit XII

The Arkansas Cancer Summit is an annual event hosted by the Arkansas Cancer Coalition to showcase the recent progress that Coalition partners have made toward meeting the goals and objectives of the state comprehensive cancer plan, and to provide opportunities for our members and friends to network, share information, and build new skills.

This year, the theme is “Spotlight on Prevention: A Picture of Health.” The Arkansas Cancer Plan reflects the importance of preventative measures in the fight to eliminate the burden of cancer in Arkansas. Summit XII is the ideal opportunity for current and potential partners to come together and not only celebrate and reflect on what has been done, but form partnerships for new and innovative ways to continue that work.

Please note: Summit XII awards will be given during the Awards Reception on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 5:30 pm at the Embassy Suites in Little Rock. Tickets are available for those attending the Awards Reception only. Please contact Shannon Langhorn at sdlanghorn@uams.edu for more information. Ticket to the Awards Reception is included in Summit XII registration.

Arkansas Cancer Summit XIII

The Arkansas Cancer Summit is an annual event hosted by the Arkansas Cancer Coalition (ACC) to showcase progress Coalition partners have made toward meeting the goals and objectives of the state’s only comprehensive cancer plan. The forum provides an opportunity for Coalition members and friends to network, share information and build new skills. Summit XIII is scheduled for March 12 – 13, 2012 at Wyndham Riverfront in North Little Rock. A reception will be held on March 12, 2012 for a partner awards ceremony, and the conference will take place on March 13, 2012. This year’s theme is “The Impact of Health Policy and Cancer Control.” Below is a preview of the conference content and confirmed speakers:

• Health Policy and Cancer Control Nationally, presented by Valerie Brown, an Obama Administration appointee
• Arkansas State Legislators Panel Discussion
• Promoting Policy and Systems Change to Impact Cancer Control in Arkansas, featuring a panel of  registered lobbyists
• Impact of Health Policy on Arkansas Comprehensive Cancer Control, featuring Dr. Joe Thompson, Arkansas Surgeon General
• Patient Navigation and Healthcare Reform, featuring Sip Mouden, CEO of Community Health Centers of Arkansas, Inc.
• Health Policy Messaging, featuring Shea Davis, Vice President of Corporate Communications Practice at Mitchell Communications Group

Public policy drives the cancer control agenda. Legislation and appropriations have significant influence on future cancer registry data. ACC calls all partners to our annual cancer summit for a forum to make health and cancer control a priority for the state of Arkansas. Early registration will cost $100. Standard registration will be $125 and onsite registration will be $150. Included in registration are collaterals from ACC partners as well as all meals and snacks prepared by Wyndham Riverfront. Arkansas Cancer Summit XIII - Reception Only

Each year, the Arkansas Cancer Coalition recognizes Partners, Volunteers, and Organization’s commitment and dedication to reduce and ultimately eliminate the burden of cancer for every person in the Arkansas. The Annual Summit Awards will be presented during a pre-conference reception on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Wyndham Riverfront North Little Rock. If you would like to attend the Annual Summit Awards only, you can purchase a ticket for $50.00.

ACC Southeast Regional Meeting

The Arkansas Cancer Coalition (ACC) invites all members in South and Central Arkansas to discuss cancer control news and information at the Southeast Regional Meeting. The meeting will be hosted at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center in Pine Bluff at 211 West 3rd Avenue on January 31st from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. This event is FREE. Lunch will be provided and mileage reimbursement is available.

ACC will host a membership workshop, the Arkansas Central Cancer Registry will discuss the Cancer Facts & Figures publication, and the Arkansas Department of Health will provide a tobacco cessation and prevention update.
